The S.J.M.V.S Arts & Commerce College for Women’s Alumni Association was established in the year 2000 and was inaugurated by the then Member of the Legislative Council (M.L.C) Shri. Basavaraj.S.Horatti.

• Objectives:

1. To bring together the worldwide community of ex-students along with faculty members on a common platform.
2. To develop the spirit of co-operation and progress.
3. To involve the old students in the developmental activities of the college and seek their co-operation and monetary support.
4. To honor and felicitate out-standing students for their achievement.
5. To felicitate the staff of the college on their retirement and for their achievements and awards.

• Activities of the Association

Every year prizes are given to those students who stood first to their class in the final examination. Text Books are provided for Physically Handicapped students. Conducting coaching classes for the courses like B.Ed, C.A and other computer courses. The Career-Oriented classes are conducted like Embroidery, Zardozi, Beautician

• Spoken English classes

Spoken English classes were conducted for PUC Ist year students from 10th March 2008 to 31st March 2008, 58 students were benefited. 

Spoken English classes were conducted for PUC II year Arts/Commerce  students from 2nd June 2008 to 31st June 2008. 150 students were benefited.

Computer Crash Course
Computer Crash Course conducted for PUC I & II year 50 students from
15th March 2008 to 31st March 2008.


• Mehandi course
  
  Mehandi course was conducted by Smt. Famida Mulla from 15.3.07 to 30.3.08        students were benefited.
  
  On June 20th – felicitation to Kum. Priyadarshini Baseganni [student of our college] for securing 644th Rank in I.A.S. Examination.

Kum. Manasi Shetty [old student of our college] on 15.7.2008 spoke on “Opportunities in Higher Education – India & Abroad” – 110 students were benefited.

• Fashion Technology Course:

i) Orientation: Information was given by Smt. Nasreen Nasabi, Amann Institute of Fashion Technology, Deshpande Nagar, Hubli on 23.7.2008. Principal Smt. Shobha Hittalmani, Prof. V.S.Kattimath, Dr. M.M.Deshpande, Prof. Sumangala.M.Jali  were present. 

ii) The course was inaugurated on 4.8.2008 by our Principal Smt. Shobha Hittalmani, Prof. V.S.Kattimath, Dr. M.M.Deshpande, Prof. V.M.Makanapur, Prof. Sunitarani were present in the function.  

Rs. 2947/- is paid towards – Admission fees, Bus pass and note books – for Orphan students.

Prizes in the form of ‘Books’ were given to the students – secured Ist Rank to the college from PUC Ist year to final year [Arts & Commerce] class.

• Painting class

Painting class was conducted from 1.8.2008 to 20.8.2008 and 13 students were benefited by this.

Association has introduced “Vidyashree” financial scheme for poor and needy students for their admission fees, bus-pass, books etc. In this respect parents meeting was held on 11.8.08. Totally 11 students applied and only four students were benefited. The total amount distributed is Rs. 1935/-

Our college students have secured eight ranks in B Com final year and four ranks in  B A final year exams held in April 2008 by Karnataka State Women’s University, Bijapur.
